Surprised by People’s Mouths

May 18, 2018 by Dale Jensen No Comments

Have you ever been surprised by what comes out of your mouth or what comes out of the mouth of others? It seems we all make the mistake of talking before we think. The question is why? Why do people embrace themselves, and for that fact, why do we embrace ourselves by speaking things that are not factual or down right lies?

Living Life Through Binoculars Could Be Bad

May 17, 2018 by Dale Jensen 1 Comment

In our fast paced culture, there are so many voices literally screaming for our attention and trying to get us to believe and follow their advice. The problem is, how do we know which one is right? And are they right all the time? Take binoculars for instance. These devises are great and important when trying to see details from far away, but they are terrible if you’re trying to take a splinter out of your hand!

Living in a “Cozy Cabin” without Power

May 11, 2018 by Dale Jensen 1 Comment

Many of us have a romantic notion about visiting a cabin in the mountains. Somehow we think that being in an old cabin with no running water or electricity will make us happy and rested. For people in the US, who actually grew up in this manner, and I know some, it was anything but romantic.  It was hard work and consumed your time with chores like going to the creek for water and cutting down trees for fire wood.

“Addressing Symptoms or Finding a Cure”

May 10, 2018 by Dale Jensen No Comments

I recently read a great article on “Medical Myths“.  It profiled health practitioners advocating certain remedies for particular illnesses.  However, as opposed to providing answers or pointing to to potential cures, they concentrated on “masking” the symptoms.

You may be wondering why a bible teacher would be reading a medical article journal article, but it’s really simple.  In life there are so many parallels.  Both natural and spiritual.  Often you can find something in one area that correlates to another, and that discovery opens up our understanding about life and the answers we seek.

Your Perspective Can Change Your Future

May 8, 2018 by Dale Jensen 2 Comments

“Perspective”….it makes all the difference in the world!

Many of us live from our “Old Memories” rather than from the “Precepts” of God’s word.  Consequently, we live as “Slaves” of our past rather than in the freedom that God’s word was meant to birth in us.

When People Try To Make Others Small

May 4, 2018 by Dale Jensen No Comments

Have you ever noticed how we seem as a culture to have no brakes on our mouths?

Not too many years ago, we debated issues and ideas. Now we slam anyone’s character when they don’t agree with everything we think is important. Instead of addressing the idea or topic, we think the only way to win an argument is to make the person we are talking about appear small or insignificant.

How Can We Know the Meaning of Life?

May 1, 2018 by Melanie No Comments

One of my heroes in the faith, and the best Christian apologist I know, is Ravi Zacharias. Here, he answers a hard question posed by a young man who was at the end of his rope, with regards to why should he go on living, since life seemed so meaningless. When a person possesses such a question, it takes not only knowledge and skill to answer gracefully, but also a loving heart.

Knowing God as a “Lover” (part 3)

May 1, 2018 by Dale Jensen No Comments

I started writing this topic on “Discovering God as a Lover” in two previous articles, which some have found to be either hard to grasp or accept, and so I wanted to continue the topic. So much of people’s Christian faith is anchored in the notion that knowing facts about God is all that is required to have a satisfying Christian experience. From a Biblical position, this is the farthest thing from the truth.

We first talked about the scripture from 1 John 4:7-8 which identifies God’s very nature. God’s nature is defined as love, and unfortunately that word in the english usage has so many different meanings today. We use the same word to say, “I love steak” or “I love tacos”. With the same word we say,”I love my dog” and “I love my kids”.

Knowing God as a “Lover” (Part 2)

April 25, 2018 by Dale Jensen 2 Comments

My last blog I talked about being in a relationship with God that goes beyond the elementary things of acceptance and forgiveness.

Heb 6:1

So let us stop going over the basics of Christianity again and again. Let us go on, instead, and become mature in our understanding. Surely we don’t need to start all over again with the importance of turning away from evil deeds and placing our faith in God.

Far too often, non-believers are convicted of their rebellion to God and His purposes, and are ready to deal with their guilt over past sin and rebellion. They come to Christ as their Savior, to be forgiven an embraced as an adopted child, but there is so much more that God has in mind for this new relationship which Christ paid for.

Knowing God as a “Lover”

April 24, 2018 by Dale Jensen 2 Comments

Do you remember the first crush you had as a little kid? My four year old grandson has a crush on a little girl in his preschool class. It is a time in our lives when we are captivated by beauty. For a boy of four, it is something that stirs this little guys heart that causes him to want to please the one of his affection. Granted, this first love experience may not happen at four, but we are wired for love, after all. Are we not made in the image of God? We still retain certain aspects of the nature God which he designed Adam with. We are made just like Him having the aspects of the nature of “Love” like Himself, though marred.
