Sitting this morning at the Charlotte airport, I’m reading and considering the study of the “soul” and how it operates in man. I’ve been investigating this subject now for a number of years, ever since reading and meditating on King David’s words in the Psalms.

More recently, I have been stirred by John Ortberg’s book “Soul Nurture”, and Larry Crabb’s book, “Soul Talk”. Both these books reveal how much the average Christian has neglected the subject, and the church has failed by in large to adequately explain.

Jesus made it very clear that all to often man forfeits God’s blessing because he neglects the caring of his own soul.

Matthew 16:24
And how do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul in the process? Is anything worth more than your soul?

So back to the reason I first started this post.

I am reading when I sense the Holy Spirit speaking to my soul, to look up. I notice a large plane is being “pushed” out from the passenger area to get ready for its taxiing down the runway and it’s flight. Here is what I hear:

Such a “Huge” vehicle is being pushed by such a small things! Your soul often is moved or “pushed” by such small things in life and causing precious cargo to be put at risk – If only you would defer to Me (Holy Spirit) to push you onto the right runway that you were meant to be on, then you would experience the destination we both desire.

I am so thankful that God desires to “push” us along in our life journey, but that requires our cooperation and ability to identify the wrong things that want to push us in the wrong direction.

Proverbs 3:5
[5] Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.
[6] Seek his will in all you do, and he will direct your paths.
[7] Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear the LORD and turn your back on evil.
[8] Then you will gain renewed health and vitality.

Trusting we all are active in nurturing our souls to be on the right path.
