As we approach the Christmas season, people get really stressed about money. Can they buy what they need and still purchase things for people they love? Most Americans will rack up a huge debit on their credit cards just for Christmas presents.

Reading in the gospel of John this morning, I am captivated once again at how simple life would be if I just did what God asked of me! 😎

How often do we expect God to supply our wants and needs and yet we fail to follow his instructions listed in black and white. The scriptures provide God’s heart about so many things and yet we go to God in prayer asking if he would provide something all the while not reading the scriptures to see if he already communicated his willingness or the lack thereof. Just because he loves us doesn’t mean he will violate what’s best for us by granting foolish or unwise requests.

John 2:3-5. Weddding & Wine Story

The wine supply ran out during the festivities,
so Jesus’ mother spoke to him about the problem. “They have no more wine,” she told him.
“How does that concern you and me?”
Jesus asked. “My time has not yet come.”
But his mother told the servants,
“Do whatever he tells you.”

This story always “centers” my heart to ask the basic question – Have I done what He asks?

May I encourage you to do a few things during this Christmas shopping time ?

1) Decide not to Worry – about stuff or people.

2) Decide to do God’s will – whatever has been revealed to you already.

3) Decide to read the Word – every day this month.

Life will go smother if we just follow the directions on the road map he has already provided.
